Abstract
A bibliographical revision of 32 articles on a newly found cell called telocyte found that the telocytes are in various parts of the human body. Telocytes are found in almost all organ systems including the cardiovascular, respiratory, urogenital, osteomyoarticular among others. These cells have multiple functions that depend on location and physiological state of the organs. This paper described the morphological characteristics of the telocytes as well as the diverse pathology of the organs in the female reproductive system and the placenta. The genetic, immunohistochemical and electrophysiological characteristics of the telocytes explain the importance of telocytes in regeneration medicine and the therapeutic practice in pathological processes. Key words: telocytes; uterus; fallopian tubes; steroid receptors; human placenta.
